Jackie Lora Jones and Bruce Rawles continue their conversations about A Course In Miracles (ACIM) in this audio. In this episode, they talk about choosing the Holy Spirit’s honest interpretation – 142 instances of that word in ACIM! – instead of ego’s dishonest misinterpretations about everything. Jackie is the host of the helpful “The 24th Hour – Positive News Magazine“, video blog YouTube Channel series of the same name also hosts a radio show “True Forgiveness Teachings” series on BlogTalkRadio on various Tuesdays.
In this conversation, we talk about “The Judgment of the Holy Spirit” from section I of Chapter 12 (The Holy Spirit’s Curriculum) of the Text of A Course In Miracles: Here is the first paragraph:
“You have been told not to make error real, and the way to do this is very simple. If you want to believe in error, you would have to make it real because it is not true. But truth is real in its own right, and to believe in truth you do not have to do anything. Understand that you do not respond to anything directly, but to your interpretation of it. Your interpretation thus becomes the justification for the response. That is why analyzing the motives of others is hazardous to you. If you decide that someone is really trying to attack you or desert you or enslave you, you will respond as if he had actually done so, having made his error real to you. To interpret error is to give it power, and having done this you will overlook truth.” –T-12.I.1
Here is Jackie’s preface to the conversation:
It is so freeing to relinquish the burden of judgment! It is indeed a burden my friends. Forgive and let live! Learn about one of the easiest ways to inner peace, and how to get there. Join Jackie and Bruce as they discuss the two ways to “interpret” a seeming attack. We have a choice in our interpretation and whatever we choose will direct our responses. Let’s choose unity! Let’s choose to awaken! Let’s choose a miracle! Join Jackie’s online community of ACIM classes & webinars here.
We talked about a few additional resources that reinforce ACIM’s curriculum of slowly but surely learning to question our personal judgments; one classic reference is Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda published by the Self-Realization Fellowship,
Another pair of references relate to the topic of betrayal, abandonment, and being forsaken – for which Judas in the Christian Bible is the archetype for justifying our own woefully inadequate judgment as well as unconscious, unfounded guilt, martyrdom, victimhood, suffering and sacrifice. Here is the quote from ACIM:
“These are some of the examples of upside-down thinking in the New Testament, although its gospel is really only the message of love. ²If the Apostles had not felt guilty, they never could have quoted me as saying, “I come not to bring peace but a sword.” ³This is clearly the opposite of everything I taught. ⁴Nor could they have described my reactions to Judas as they did, if they had really understood me. ⁵I could not have said, “Betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?” unless I believed in betrayal. ⁶The whole message of the crucifixion was simply that I did not. ⁷The “punishment” I was said to have called forth upon Judas was a similar mistake. ⁸Judas was my brother and a Son of God, as much a part of the Sonship as myself. ⁹Was it likely that I would condemn him when I was ready to demonstrate that condemnation is impossible?” – T-6.I.15:1-9
Here is a related quote from another metaphysical classic, The Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East by Baird T. Spalding (volume 3):
“It is written [in Matthew 27:46] that my last words on the cross were: ‘My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?’ This is a complete mistranslation. The words actually were: ‘My God, my God, thou hast never forsaken me or any of thy children, for thy children can come to thee as I have come. They can see my life as I have lived my life. Thus, by living that life, they do incorporate the Christ and become One with you, God my Father.”
The entire 6-volume set of The Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East is available from Amazon here. You can also get pdf versions of the first 4 volumes here: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4.
As always, these readings provide a platform to discuss a variety of helpful ideas and practices from the non-dual metaphysics of A Course in Miracles. Jackie has conducted insightful video interviews with Gary Renard and numerous others. She and her sister, Cindy Lora-Renard, facilitate a classes on ACIM in addition to equally highly-regarded workshops on “The Course.” Jackie’s first book, All Peace, No Pieces is a valuable addition to any Course student’s library, regardless of their level of familiarity with the Course’s ideas, with some particularly fun and insightful metaphors from the Wizard of Oz movie.
