I have been waiting patiently … so patiently … for today! Now I can finally share something I’ve been happily using daily – extensively! – for the better part of a year, watching it get better and better and having more and more fun seeing it evolve – and finding it more and more indispensable. Like a butterfly breaking free of its chrysalis, this elegant creature is airborne … now! Today marks a milestone for anyone interested in A Course In Miracles – the long-awaited Web Edition of ACIM is now online!!! Here’s the announcement on the FIP website and the corresponding new Welcome page for the ACIM Web Edition. Here is a short video about the Daily Workbook Lessons on the new Web Edition of A Course In Miracles.
This definitive digital version not only includes all three original volumes (Text, Workbook for Students and Manual for Teachers) it also includes the two supplements – “Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process, Practice” and “The Song of Prayer: Prayer, Forgiveness, Healing” and so much more. This new web edition has the exact same content as the print versions but in a far different form; the extensive new search capabilities cover the entire Course … and so much more functionality, both now and forthcoming!
You will definitely want to have both your favorite ACIM print edition (if you don’t have a copy in your native language already) and bookmark the new ACIM Web Edition since they work together beautifully and complement your study of the Course!
This new online web-based edition was built from the ground up to provide the much-needed context for anyone wanting to reference ACIM with links back to the entire Course. Now you can study, share and discuss quotes and excerpts from this profound work very simply in emails, websites, social media, presentations, articles, and so much more with no extra effort. The connectivity is unparalleled and I think this is a breakthrough not only for the global Course community but also as a superb example of the vision of what the hyper-linked web can be as a powerful resource for Self-discovery and a metaphor for our intrinsic interconnectedness. Minds are joined (ACIM, T-18.VI.3:1)!
For example – in addition to the quote I just grabbed above which took all of about 3 seconds, here’s another quote I just found by tapping on the familiar magnifying glass icon to search the entire course using the phrase “none that you would keep” which I put in double-quotes to only get the exact phrase.
I tap the “Search!” button and get this result:
When I click on the search result on the left it immediately loads the entire section where the quote occurs, highlighting the phrase I searched for, and I can see the entire section – in context! :-)
Now let’s say I want to post this quote somewhere … anywhere. I merely select the sentence (or sentences) that I want to share – like so (note the green highlighted portion above) and copy (using command-C on a Mac or control-C on Windows.) I go back to this blog post, and paste (using command-V on a Mac or control-V on Windows) and Voila! Here’s the quote I wanted, with the correct annotation* and a link back to the full Course so the reader can now read the quote in full context. (I added enclosing quotes and italics, but that’s optional.)
“The necessary condition for the holy instant does not require that you have no thoughts that are not pure. But it does require that you have none that you would keep.” (ACIM, T-15.IV.9:1-2)
Try tapping on the blue link just above and you’ll get to that same spot yourself! :-)
With that selection still handy, you can just as easily post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, in an email, a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation, etc., etc., etc. Pretty cool, huh! You didn’t have much work to do there! This new enhanced functionality is like how we benefit enormously when we let Holy Spirit do the heavy lifting as we trust our Inner Kindness Teacher! :-)
* If you noticed the asterisk on the word annotation above, you will note that the copied and pasted quote has the exact reference to where to find the quote in ANY version of ACIM – which anyone, regardless of which edition – print or electronic, English or any of the other languages. The page numbers vary from edition-to-edition and certainly with different languages, but the annotation (combined with the forthcoming addition of new languages to this new Web Edition of ACIM) makes this new online website a virtual “Rosetta Stone” for the global Course community. Now you don’t need to learn how the annotations work to benefit from them yourself and help others get to the reference you want to share quickly and unambiguously. If you are curious, here are more details on the why and how of annotations.
I imagine Helen, Bill and Ken would be thrilled to see how far the Course has spread and now how easy it is to use online! Thanks to Felix, Tara, and of course Judy and everyone at the Foundation for Inner Peace for making this wonderful new way to extend the reach of the Course. Much more is planned, too! The launch today already “leapfrogs” what was available before, and soon other languages – catching up with the 27+ translations of the Course! – will be available, so that bi-lingual Course students and teachers will be able to simply select the language(s) of interest and see how a selected phrase or section reads in another tongue.
Here are some more thoughts in a related video about this new ACIM edition made early this morning. I evidently forgot to turn screen sharing back on for a good portion of the video, but you’ll get the idea and can follow along yourself and replicate my examples yourself … Have fun!!! I sure am enjoying this awesome new version of the Course :-)
Here’s where you can start using the new ACIM Web Edition yourself! :-)
It’s also a perfect time – if you are in a position to do so – to support the Foundation for Inner Peace for all their decades of efforts bringing a tremendously transformative thought system to all of us. No, FIP didn’t ask me to do this; I’m just profoundly grateful to FIP for what has made my life profoundly better beyond my imagination.
Enjoy! (I’ll have lots more to say about this, but that’s enough for today… Let’s celebrate! :-)
