In this audio recording, CA Brooks and Bruce Rawles read and discuss A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson 200: “When I am healed I am not healed alone.” – here are the first two paragraphs of that lesson:
“Today’s idea remains the central thought on which salvation rests. For healing is the opposite of all the world’s ideas which dwell on sickness and on separate states. Sickness is a retreat from others, and a shutting off of joining. It becomes a door that closes on a separate self, and keeps it isolated and alone.
Sickness is isolation. For it seems to keep one self apart from all the rest, to suffer what the others do not feel. It gives the body final power to make the separation real, and keep the mind in solitary prison, split apart and held in pieces by a solid wall of sickened flesh, which it can not surmount.” – W-pI.137.1-2
In light of the current global Covid-19 pandemic, where we seem to be ever more physically isolated, quarantined and appropriately, intentionally distanced socially on the level of form, there is always a quiet, gentle voice within us that eternally reminds us that – in Truth – minds are joined. We’re all the same Spirit and we couldn’t possibly be separate from each other, except in the mad and feverish dreams of space, time, bodies, personalities and our ego defenses, grievances, and insistence on victimhood. Our challenge is to remember to include everyone in our definition of Self, gently questioning our projected grievances and ultimately dropping the dissociative sword of divisive, adversarial thinking.
We can turn the tables on the ego and use an extended period of physical isolation as an opportunity to reach out with our minds to embrace everyone (including ourselves) with greater compassion than ever. We believe we’re isolated as bodies from every other body in our communities and the whole planet, perhaps more than ever, but form is never where true communion occurs; it’s always a decision in the mind to see everyone’s true interests as our own.
As a reflection of this inner classroom of kindness, we can provide solace to ourselves and others (family, friends, colleagues, and beyond) by reaching out using our technology (e.g. zoom, Skype, etc. as well as more familiar forms like phone calls and emails) to see everyone as innocent of the imagined crime of separation from our Creator and as a result, each other.
If you resonate with the idea of joining other ACIM students online, there are a number of online programs, both live and pre-recorded you might enjoy, including classes, study groups, and webinars, which are growing in number rapidly in response to the current global crisis, helping to reverse our perceived sense of isolation by providing opportunities to share and learn together, being truly helpful.
Here are some current free online ACIM connection/class/webinar/etc. opportunities:
- The Foundation for Inner Peace (FIP) has been doing great zoom webinars for a year or so now. For example, Judy Skutch Whitson gave a great talk earlier today about ” Listening to the Voice.”
- The Foundation for A Course In Miracles (FACIM) continues its multi-decade legacy – in the spirit of Ken Wapnick – providing superb books, videos, audios, and most recently new ongoing streaming programming by Jeffrey Seibert.
- For years I’ve been enjoying the excellent zoom School For A Course In Miracles (SFACIM) classes from Tim Wise and Lyn Corona: Here’s a sampling of their YouTube archives.
- I’ve been helping the Rocky Mountain Miracle Center (RMMC) transition their in-person meetings to online zoom meetings.
- Susan Dugan recently moved her Tuesday evening in-person RMMC class to Skype.
- Lyn Johnson and I have been making ACIM-related audio recordings every Saturday morning – also streamed live via ACIMGather.us – for several years. Here are some recent “Journey Home” audio archives.
- You can find other online ACIM study groups (both in-person and more recently online) on the Miracle Distribution Center website.
A great “silver lining” aspect to all this is that we’re reconnecting in other ways, including zoom and Skype. … and what a great reminder that MINDS ARE JOINED!
This latest audio conversation is another example of CA’s excellent regular ACIM internet radio program on 12Radio devoted to the spirituality of A Course in Miracles.
